About this banknote
The Bank of Estonia (Eesti Pank) issued the 100-kroon banknote in 1992 as part of the reintroduction of the Estonian kroon currency on June 20, 1992, replacing the Soviet ruble at a rate of 1 kroon to 10 rubles. The banknote was printed by De La Rue in London.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of poet and playwright Lydia Koidula (1843–1886), along with a nightingale from her poem "Emajõe Ööbik" ("The Nightingale of the Emajõgi River"). The reverse depicts stormy waves crashing against a limestone cliff. The note measures 141 x 69 mm and includes a watermark of three lions.
