The Banque de France issued the 100 francs "Sully" banknote between May 19, 1939, and April 23, 1942. This series was introduced to replace earlier designs and remained in circulation until its withdrawal on June 4, 1945.
The front of the banknote features a laureate woman holding a staff of command in her right hand, with a child offering her fruits and flowers in her left hand. An aerial view of Paris, including Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Seine River, forms the background. The reverse depicts Maximilien de Béthune, Duke of Sully, holding a parchment, set against a pastoral landscape.
