About this banknote
The Narodowy Bank Polski (National Bank of Poland) issued the 10 złotych banknote (Pick 183) on 5 January 2012. This release was part of a series introduced to enhance the security features of Poland's currency.
The obverse features a portrait of Duke Mieszko I, founder and ruler of the first unified Polish state. To his left are two rosettes inspired by the floor pattern of Gniezno Cathedral, and to his right is a floral motif found on Romanesque liturgical vessels. The reverse depicts a medieval denar coin issued during Mieszko I's reign, accompanied by stylized Romanesque columns from the Benedictine Abbey in Tyniec.
