About this banknote

The Ministry of the Treasury of Poland issued the 10 groszy banknote on April 28, 1924, as part of the Bilet Zdawkowy series. This series was introduced to address a shortage of small denomination coins in circulation. The 10 groszy note, along with 20 and 50 groszy denominations, were not overprints but newly designed banknotes.

The obverse of the note features an image of the Sigismund's Column in Warsaw's Castle Square, framed by ornate scrollwork. To the left and right of the central image are depictions of the obverse and reverse of a 1923 ten groszy coin. The note measures 68 x 47 mm and was printed by the Państwowe Zakłady Graficzne in Warsaw.
