The Government of Gibraltar issued this banknote in 1954, following the guidelines of the Currency Note Ordinance of 1934. This series was part of efforts to establish a distinct currency for Gibraltar while aligning with British standards.
The front side of the note features a depiction of the iconic Rock of Gibraltar, along with inscriptions stating its denomination and authority. The back displays the coat of arms with the motto "MONTIS INSIGNIA CALPE." This banknote, known as Pick 14, was printed by Waterlow & Sons Limited, London.
