About this banknote
The South African Reserve Bank issued the 10 rand banknote (Pick 113) in 1966. This series was introduced to replace the earlier pound-denominated notes following South Africa's currency decimalization in 1961. The banknote features a portrait of Bartholomeus Vermuyden on the left, the Union Buildings in Pretoria at the center, and a springbok on the right. The reverse side depicts sailing ships approaching Table Mountain. The note measures 140 x 76 mm and includes a watermark of a springbok.
