About this banknote
The Banco Central de la República Argentina issued this 10 pesos banknote in 1969 as part of a provisional series. To facilitate the transition to the new peso ley currency, existing 1,000 pesos moneda nacional notes (Pick #279) were overprinted with the new denomination.
The front features a portrait of General José de San Martín in uniform on the right side. The reverse displays an illustration of the sailing ship "Fragata Presidente Sarmiento," based on a painting by Hugo Lebán. The banknote measures 175 x 87 mm and lacks a security thread. It was demonetized on March 29, 1978.
