About this banknote
The Banque de France issued the 10 francs "Voltaire" banknote from January 2, 1964, to December 6, 1973. This series was introduced to replace the previous 10 francs "Bertrand" note, aligning with the modernization of French currency designs during that period.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of Voltaire holding a quill pen, with the Palais des Tuileries and the Seine River in the background. The reverse depicts Voltaire with the Château de Cirey in Lorraine. The watermark presents Voltaire's head. This banknote was withdrawn from circulation on April 1, 1976.
