About this banknote
The Tesouro Nacional (National Treasury) of Brazil issued the 10 Cruzeiros banknote (Pick 159) between 1953 and 1960. This series, known as "Estampa 2A," was printed by Thomas de la Rue & Company, Limited, London, and featured the inscription "Valor Recebido" on the obverse.
The obverse displays a central portrait of Getúlio Dornelles Vargas, who served as President of Brazil from 1930 to 1945 and from 1951 to 1954. The reverse features an allegorical figure representing National Unity, symbolizing Brazil's industrial development. This banknote was demonetized on February 12, 1967.
