About this banknote
The Polish Ministry of Finance issued the 1 złoty banknote (Pick 50) on October 1, 1938, as part of the Bilet Państwowy series. This series was introduced to provide low-denomination currency for everyday transactions.
The obverse features a portrait of Bolesław I Chrobry at the right, with the Polish eagle emblem at the left and the denomination in the center. The reverse displays a large numeral "1" at the center, surrounded by intricate guilloche patterns. Measuring 108 x 60 mm, the note was printed by the Polish Security Printing Works (Polska Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych S.A.) in Warsaw. It was issued on August 26, 1939, and remained in circulation until September 1, 1939.
