The 1 ruble banknote issued in 1991 by the State Bank of the USSR was part of the final series of Soviet currency before the dissolution of the Soviet Union. This series was introduced to combat inflation and stabilize the economy during a period of significant financial turmoil. The banknote features the USSR coat of arms in the upper left corner, beneath a semi-frame with plant ornaments, and above a cartouche with the inscription "БИЛЕТ ГОСУДАРСТВЕННОГО БАНКА СССР" (State Bank of the USSR Note). The denomination is prominently displayed in the center, with the inscription "ОДИН РУБЛЬ" (ONE RUBLE) above and the date below. A pale yellow-green security underprint in the form of waving lines covers four-fifths of the banknote, and the watermark consists of rows of light and dark five-pointed stars.
