About this banknote

The Russian Empire's Ministry of Finance issued the 1 ruble State Credit Note in 1882, as part of the 1866–1886 series. This series was introduced to standardize the currency system under Emperor Alexander II, with the 1 ruble note first entering circulation on August 1, 1869.

The obverse features a crowned double-headed eagle above the monogram of Czar Alexander III on the left. The note measures 150 mm in width and 90 mm in height, and is printed on hemp paper. The watermark includes the denomination "1" in each corner, with the inscriptions "Г.К.Б." (State Credit Note) at the top, "ОДИНЪ РУБЛЬ" (One Ruble) in the center, and the year "1882" at the bottom.
