About this banknote
The Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (Banco Central de la República Argentina) issued the 1 peso banknote under Law No. 12,962, dated March 27, 1947. This series was introduced into circulation between 1948 and 1951.
The obverse features an effigy of Progress, depicted as a seated woman resting her right hand on a plate bearing the Argentine coat of arms and holding a lit torch in her left hand. The reverse displays the Argentine coat of arms surrounded by laurel branches. The banknote measures 130 × 65 mm and was printed by the Casa de Moneda de la Nación. It was demonetized on December 29, 1962.
