About this banknote
The Central Bank of The Bahamas issued the 1 Dollar banknote in 2001, under the Central Bank of The Bahamas Act 2000. This series was introduced during the tenure of Governor Julian W. Francis, who served from 1997 to 2005.
The front of the note features a front-facing bust of Sir Lynden O. Pindling at the right center, an outline map of the Bahamas Islands at the center, and fish and corals at the left. The reverse depicts the Royal Bahamas Police Band at the center, the coat of arms of the Bahamas and the bank logo at the right, and a seashell at the lower left. The watermark is a Spanish galleon.
