About this banknote
The Bermuda Monetary Authority issued the 1-dollar banknote on May 1, 1984. This note was part of a series introduced following Bermuda's currency switch from the Bermudian pound to the Bermudian dollar in 1970, which was pegged at par with the US dollar.
The front of the note features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the right, the Bermuda coat of arms at the left center, and a Bermuda petrel (Pterodroma cahow) in the center. The back depicts sailboats at the left center and buildings at the upper right. The note measures 140 x 70 mm and includes a watermark of a tuna fish. It was printed by Thomas De La Rue & Co. Ltd.
