About this banknote
The Banco Central do Brasil issued the 1 cruzeiro banknote (Pick 191Aa) in 1970 as part of the transition from the cruzeiro novo to the cruzeiro currency. This change was formalized on May 15, 1970, when the currency was renamed from cruzeiro novo to cruzeiro.
The obverse features a medallic Liberty head in brown at the right. The reverse depicts the Banco Central building in Rio de Janeiro on the left. The watermark consists of a vertically repeated effigy of the Republic. This note was printed by the Casa da Moeda do Brasil.
