The Bank of Ghana issued the 1 cedi banknote (Pick 37f) on July 1, 2015. This release was part of the 2007–2017 series, which aimed to modernize the nation's currency and enhance security features.
The front of the note features the Freedom and Justice Arch at Independence Square, the national coat of arms, and portraits of six prominent figures: Kwame Nkrumah, Ebenezer Ako Adjei, Edward Akufo-Addo, Joseph Boakye Danquah, Emmanuel Odarkwei Obetsebi-Lamptey, and William Ofori Atta. The reverse side displays the Akosombo Dam and a stack of gold bars. The note measures 137 x 65 mm and was printed by De La Rue.
