About this banknote
The Bank of Ghana issued the 1 cedi banknote (Pick 10c) on October 1, 1970. This release was part of the second cedi series introduced in 1967, following the demonetization of the first cedi to remove the image of former President Kwame Nkrumah after the 1966 coup.
The obverse of the note features a cocoa tree with pods on the right side. The reverse displays a shield on the left and ceremonial swords on the right. The banknote measures 140 x 63 mm and was printed by De La Rue in London.
