The Bank of Ghana issued the 1 cedi banknote (Pick 37c) on March 6, 2010. This release was part of the ongoing series introduced in 2007, following the redenomination of the Ghanaian currency. The note was printed by De La Rue and signed by Henry Kofi Wampah, who served as the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana at that time.

The front of the banknote features the Independence Arch located in Accra's Independence Square, inscribed with "Freedom and Justice, AD 1957." To the right are portraits of the "Big Six" leaders: Kwame Nkrumah, Ebenezer Ako-Adjei, Edward Akufo-Addo, Joseph Boakye Danquah, Emmanuel Obetsebi-Lamptey, and William Ofori Atta. The reverse side displays the Akosombo Dam and a stockpile of gold bars. The note measures 137 x 65 mm and is predominantly red in color. Security features include a watermark of Tetteh Quarshie with a cacao pod and an electrotype "1."
