The 50-krone banknote was issued by Danmarks Nationalbank in 1984 as part of a series introduced in 1972. This series was initiated to modernize Denmark's currency and enhance security features.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of Engelke Charlotte Ryberg, née Falbe, painted by Jens Juel. The reverse side depicts a crucian carp (Carassius carassius). The note measures 139 x 72 mm and is predominantly blue and green. It includes a solid security thread and a watermark of Jens Juel and the number 50.
