The issuing authority for this banknote was the State Bank of the USSR. The Early Chervonets series was introduced in 1922. This series was part of economic measures undertaken during the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) to stabilize the currency after the Russian Civil War.

The front side of the 1 червонец banknote features the state emblem and a multicolor guilloche on the left side. It includes a watermark of slabs and has dimensions of 135 x 67 mm. The banknote was in circulation from January 1923, identified by its blue color and Pick number 139.
