Banknotes of Tonga

The official currency of Tonga is the Tongan paʻanga (TOP), issued by the Reserve Bank of Tonga. Paper money was first introduced in Tonga in 1885 during the reign of King George Tupou I. A notable reform occurred in 2000 when the Tongan government redenominated the paʻanga, leading to the introduction of new banknotes with updated designs.
