Banknotes of Laos

The official currency of Laos is the kip, issued by the Bank of the Lao P.D.R. Paper money was first introduced in Laos in 1952. A significant event in its currency history occurred in 1980 when a redenomination was implemented, resulting in the removal of two zeros from existing banknotes.
