The official currency of Ireland is the euro, issued by the Central Bank of Ireland since the country adopted the euro in 2002. Prior to that, the Irish pound was introduced in 1928 and underwent a major redenomination in 1971, where new pound notes replaced old ones at a rate of 100 to 1. Collectors are drawn to Ireland's banknotes due to their intricate designs and depictions of key historical figures. The series known as the "Harold’s Cross" notes, issued between 1976 and 1985, feature detailed imagery of various Irish landmarks and cultural icons, showcasing the artistic craftsmanship of the period.
