Banknotes of Bhutan

The official currency of Bhutan is the ngultrum, which is issued by the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan. Paper money was first introduced in Bhutan in 1974, coinciding with the introduction of the ngultrum itself. A significant reform occurred in 1990, when the currency was redenominated, updating the banknotes to reflect modern security features and designs.
