About this banknote
Bank Indonesia issued the 50,000 rupiah banknote in 1999. This series was introduced to replace the previous 50,000 rupiah note from 1993, which featured President Soeharto.
The front of the 1999 banknote displays Wage Rudolf Soepratman, the composer of Indonesia's national anthem, "Indonesia Raya." The reverse depicts military personnel hoisting the national flag on Independence Day. The watermark features Hadji Oemar Said Tjokroaminoto.
