About this banknote
The Central Bank of Turkey (Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankası) issued the 50,000 lira banknote on May 15, 1989. This note, part of the E7 Emission Group, was introduced during the tenure of Governor Rüştü Saracoğlu (1987–1993) and Vice-Governor Mehmet Ercan Kumcu.
The obverse features a portrait of President Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on the right side. The reverse depicts the National Parliament House in Ankara, now the Museum of the War of Independence and Museum of the Republic, at the left center. The watermark also displays a portrait of Atatürk. This banknote measures 152 × 76 mm and was demonetized on November 4, 2009.
