About this banknote
The Bank of Spain (Banco de España) issued the 5,000 pesetas banknote dated February 6, 1976, during the reign of King Juan Carlos I. This note was introduced into circulation on July 19, 1978, as part of the country's ongoing efforts to modernize its currency.
The obverse features a front-facing bust of King Carlos III, accompanied by geometric designs and the Spanish coat of arms in the background. The reverse displays the main facade of the Prado Museum in Madrid, also adorned with geometric patterns. The watermark presents the head of King Carlos III.
