The Bank of Ghana issued the 500 cedis banknote (Pick 28c) on June 10, 1994. This note was part of a series introduced between 1986 and 1994, with earlier issues dated December 31, 1986 (Pick 28a) and April 20, 1989 (Pick 28b).
The obverse features the national coat of arms at the right, with the inscriptions "BANK OF GHANA," "WORK AND INDUSTRY," "GYE NYAME," and "FIVE HUNDRED CEDIS." The reverse depicts trees on the left, cocoa pods in the center, and a miner on the right. The note measures 152 x 73 mm and includes a watermark of an eagle head above a star.
