About this banknote
The State Bank of Albania (Banka e Shtetit Shqiptar) issued the 50 Lekë banknote in 1957. This series was printed by Goznak, the Russian state printing company established in 1818.
The front of the note features a bas-relief portrait of Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg (1405–1468) on the right, with the denomination in the center and left. The back displays the Albanian coat of arms at the center and a soldier to the right. The watermark consists of the repeated letters "BSHSH" within outlines.
