About this banknote
The Banque de France issued the 50 francs banknote (Pick 157A) in 1997, featuring Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the renowned French writer and aviator. This series was introduced on October 20, 1993, replacing the previous 50 francs note depicting Maurice Quentin de la Tour.
The front of the note displays a portrait of Saint-Exupéry alongside an illustration of "Le Petit Prince" at the left, an old airplane at the top left, and a topographical map of Africa at the center. The reverse features a Breguet XIV biplane, referencing Saint-Exupéry's aviation career. The note measures 123 x 80 mm and includes a watermark of Saint-Exupéry's bust.
