About this banknote
The Banque de France issued the 50 francs "Cérès" banknote (Pick 85) between 1937 and 1940. This series was introduced on August 5, 1937, replacing the previous "Cérès" notes by changing the title "LE CAISSIER PRINCIPAL" to "LE CAISSIER GÉNÉRAL."
The obverse features the bust of Cérès on the left, with the Gardens of Versailles in the background, and a reclining figure on the right.
