About this banknote
The Central Reserve Bank of Peru issued the 5 soles banknote series between 1969 and 1974. This series was introduced following the monetary reforms of 1969, which led to changes in the text on the banknotes. Specifically, this series replaced the previous wording with "De Acuerdo Con Su Ley Organica" as part of this reform.
The front side of the banknote features Garcilaso Inca de la Vega on the right and the national arms at the center. The note has three signatures and is predominantly green with a multicolored underprint. The back side showcases the Fortaleza de Sacsahuaman. It was printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company (TDLR), and this variant, Pick 99b, was issued on September 9, 1971.
