About this banknote
The Banco Central de Reserva del Perú issued the 5 soles de oro banknote on May 26, 1944, as part of the 1933-1950 "Ley 7137" Soles de Oro series. This series was introduced following the enactment of Law No. 7137 in 1931, which established the sol de oro as Peru's official currency.
The obverse features a black print on a multicolor underprint, with a central portrait of Liberty wearing a Pythagorean cap adorned with a shining star. The reverse displays a green print depicting three miners working underground, with the denomination values on either side. This banknote measures 140 x 68 mm and was printed by the American Bank Note Company.
