This series was introduced on December 5, 1922, as part of the Soviet government's efforts to stabilize the economy following the Russian Civil War. The note was demonetized on November 1, 1923.

The obverse features the emblem of the RSFSR at the upper center, with the denomination below and legal text at the lower center. The reverse displays a guilloché pattern across the note.
