About this banknote
The Bank of Ghana issued the 5-pound banknote (Pick 3d) on July 1, 1962. This note was part of Ghana's first series of banknotes following its independence in 1957, reflecting the nation's move to establish its own currency system.
The obverse features the Bank of Ghana building in Accra at the center. The reverse depicts two cargo ships at anchor with logs floating in the water. The note measures 172 x 98 mm and includes a watermark of the word "GHANA" within a star. It was printed by De La Rue and was demonetized on December 17, 1966.
