About this banknote
The National Bank of Egypt issued the 5-pound banknote (Pick 25) in 1951, during the reign of King Farouk I (1936–1952). This series was printed by Bradbury Wilkinson & Co. of New Malden, Surrey, England.
The obverse features a portrait of King Farouk I on the right and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali at the Cairo Citadel on the left. The reverse depicts the Colossus of the Nile statue from the Vatican Museum in Rome, Italy. The banknote measures 170 × 89 mm and includes a lotus flower watermark.
