About this banknote
The Banco de España issued the 5 pesetas banknote dated July 22, 1954. Although printed in 1954, these notes were not placed into circulation until November 30, 1956.
The obverse features a half-length portrait of King Alfonso X "the Wise," inspired by the monument on the facade of the National Library in Madrid. The reverse depicts the Palace of Library and National Museums in Madrid. The watermark presents a crowned head of Alfonso X.
