About this banknote
The Banco Central de Venezuela issued the 5 bolívares banknote on December 19, 2008, as part of the Bolívar Fuerte series introduced in 2007. This series was implemented to replace the previous currency system, aiming to simplify transactions and combat inflation.
The obverse of the banknote features a portrait of Pedro Camejo, known as "Negro Primero," with the Venezuelan flag in the background. The reverse depicts two giant armadillos (Priodontes maximus) and palm trees in the Los Llanos region. Measuring 156 x 69 mm, the note is printed on paper and is predominantly blue and orange. It was signed by José Manuel Ferrer Nava and Bernardo Ferrán, and produced by the Casa de la Moneda de Venezuela.
