About this banknote

The National Bank of Egypt issued the 25 piastres banknote (Pick 28) between 1952 and 1957. This series was introduced following the Egyptian Revolution of 1952, during which the monarchy was overthrown and Egypt was declared a republic on June 18, 1953.

The front of the note features a right-facing image of Tutankhamun's mask. The reverse depicts the Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi Mosque in Alexandria, flanked by lotus blossoms. The note measures 131 x 70 mm and was printed by Bradbury Wilkinson and Company in the United Kingdom.
