About this banknote
The Banco Nacional de Cuba issued the 20 pesos banknote (Pick 97) in 1961, following the demonetization of previous currency on August 7, 1961. This new series was printed in Czechoslovakia by Státní Tiskárna Cenin (STC).
The obverse features a portrait of Camilo Cienfuegos at the center, with the denomination in letters on both sides. The reverse depicts the landing of the Granma yacht on December 2, 1956, with the country name at the top and the denomination in numbers and letters on the sides. This banknote was demonetized on June 1, 2003.
