About this banknote
The Bank Polska Kasa Opieki S.A. issued the 20-cent foreign exchange certificate on July 1, 1969. These certificates, denominated in U.S. dollars, were introduced to facilitate transactions in foreign currency within Poland, particularly in state-operated stores like Pewex, which sold imported goods.
The obverse of the note features the denomination "$0.20" along with the inscription "BON TOWAROWY" and "DWADZIEŚCIA CENTÓW." The reverse includes a redemption clause stating that the certificates are not subject to redemption and that no replacement documents are issued for lost certificates. The note measures 110 x 55 mm and has a watermark with a diamond pattern.
