About this banknote
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey issued the 2½ lira banknote on January 3, 1955, as part of the Second Series of the Fifth Emission Group. This series was printed in England by Thomas De La Rue & Company.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of President Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on the right side. The back depicts the former headquarters of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey in Ankara. The note measures 145 x 65 mm and has a watermark of Atatürk's portrait. It was withdrawn from circulation on October 20, 1966, and lost its value on October 21, 1976.
