About this banknote
The "Centrale Bank van Suriname" issued the Suriname 2½ gulden banknote in 1978. This series was introduced following financial regulations established on 8 April 1960. The banknote was printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd., a well-known security printing company in England.
The front side of the note features a blue bird, Thraupis episcopus, against a backdrop of intricate foliage with red-brown and light-blue colors. The back side displays a vivid scene of the Afobaka Dam under a setting sun, accompanied by a lizard in the foreground. The note measures 128 x 73 mm and had a production of 4,400,000 units in 1978.
