About this banknote
The National Bank of Belgium issued the 2 Francs banknote on August 27, 1914, during the early days of World War I. This issuance aimed to address the shortage of coinage caused by the war.
The obverse features French text with a brown design on a gray underprint, including a large central "2" and a floral border. The reverse presents Dutch text with similar design elements. The note measures 106 x 65 mm and was signed by Treasurer Antoine Babau and Governor Théophile de Lantsheere. A total of 9,200,000 notes were printed, and they were demonetized on March 30, 1915.
