About this banknote
The Treasury of Denmark issued the 12 Skilling banknote in 1809, following the Ordinance of June 6, 1809. This issuance aimed to address a shortage of small denomination coins during the reign of King Frederick VI.
The obverse of the note features the denomination "12 Skilling" and a promissory text referencing the ordinance date. An anti-counterfeit warning is inscribed at the bottom, stating that forgery would be punished by loss of honor, life, and property. The reverse side is blank. This banknote was demonetized on May 3, 1820.
