About this banknote
Bank Indonesia issued the 100,000 rupiah banknote in 1999 to address anticipated increased cash demand due to the Year 2000 problem. On November 1, 1999, 500 million polymer notes of this denomination were introduced, marking the first time former President Sukarno and Vice President Mohammad Hatta appeared together on an Indonesian banknote.
The obverse features portraits of President Sukarno and Vice President Hatta at the center, with the Proclamation of Independence text and the national coat of arms. The reverse depicts the People's Consultative Assembly and Parliament building in Jakarta. Printed by Note Printing Australia and Thailand, this polymer note was demonetized on December 31, 2008.
