About this banknote
The National Bank of Belgium issued the 10,000 franc banknote in 1997, featuring the signatures of Treasurer Serge Bertholomé and Governor Alfons Verplaetse. This note replaced the previous 10,000 franc note depicting King Baudouin and Queen Fabiola, which was in circulation from 1992 until King Baudouin's death in 1993.
The front of the banknote displays portraits of King Albert II and Queen Paola on the left, with an aerial view of the Parliamentary chamber on the right. The reverse side features the Royal Greenhouses at Laeken, the royal residence. The note includes a watermark of King Albert II and his monogram, and a windowed security thread.
