About this banknote
The National Bank of Azerbaijan issued the 1,000 manat banknote in 1993 as part of the country's second manat series, following its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. This series was introduced to establish a distinct national currency, replacing the Soviet ruble.
The obverse of the banknote features a portrait of Mammad Amin Rasulzadeh, a prominent Azerbaijani statesman and head of the Azerbaijani National Council. The reverse displays ornate designs with the denomination prominently featured. The banknote measures 125 x 63 mm and was printed by Banque de France in Paris. It was demonetized on December 31, 2006.
