About this banknote
The Banco Central de Venezuela issued the 1,000 bolívares banknote on July 30, 1992. This release corrected a typographical error found in the previous 1991 issue, where the word "Bolívares" lacked the proper accent on the letter "í."
The front of the banknote features a portrait of Simón Bolívar, based on Antonio Salas's 1925 painting, with a book in the background. The reverse displays Juan Lovera's painting "Firma del Acta de la Independencia," depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence, along with the names of the signatories and the national coat of arms. This note was demonetized on December 31, 2011.
